Legacy and Will Disputes

Legacies left to charities in Wills are incredibly vital sources of funding, helping charities continue to support their communities into the future.

We know how much legacies mean to the charities we work with , their beneficiaries and their supporters. Which is why we are here to help you at every step to ensure you can honour your supporters’ last wishes.

Our legacy advice for charities

Tozers have a team of contentious probate specialists experienced in supporting charities with all types of issues and disputes which might arise as a result of a will. We understand these disputes can be very difficult to deal with and need to be treated with sensitivity. Equally, we understand that you will want to get the right result for the charity.

Working with our dedicated wealth management team we can provide you with the best support and advice when dealing with the administration and, where necessary, disputes that sometimes come with legacies and Wills. We are accredited by the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists.

We can provide you with specialist advice, including on gifts of intellectual property, property, art work or shares, and if a legacy is challenged, we will help you to resolve it, ensuring your charity’s entitlement, and reputation, are protected.

Supporting charities every step of the way

We are one of very few law firms in the South West with genuine specialist, in-depth, charity law expertise, as well as being recognised as a leading firm for charity law by the independent Legal 500 and Chambers legal directories.

Our team is led by James Evans who is one of very few senior charity specialist lawyers based west of Bristol, working exclusively with charities, social enterprises, education institutions and other ‘social purpose’ organisations, while our specialist dispute resolution team is led by Martin Laver who advises businesses, charities and not for profit organisations as well as individuals.
