Senior Associate & Solicitor

Michelle Beckett

“People who come to us have invariably been through a distressing time. A lot of people naturally have no experience of bringing a claim and it can be very daunting. I feel it is important to spend time guiding people through each step and being upfront about the timescales and processes involved with bringing a claim. I endeavour to build up good relationships with every client and work hard to ensure they get the compensation and treatment that they deserve.”

Qualifying as a solicitor 2015 (having previously qualified as a Legal Executive in 2013), Michelle is a Senior Associate & Solicitor within Tozers’ Medical Negligence team and is an accredited member of the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel. Acting for claimants who have suffered from injuries as a result of negligent medical treatment. Michelle makes sure she builds a strong relationship with her clients and then works with them, throughout their case, from the initial investigation onwards with the ultimate aim of obtaining them the compensation they need to secure their future.

Extremely passionate about her role, Michelle has a sympathetic and approachable nature, which she combines with her efficient and professional manner to navigate the appropriate actions from drafting witness statements, working with experts, investigating liability (whether those that provided the treatment were at fault) liaising with the Defendant and the Court, and investigating the value of the case when appropriate.

Michelle understands that your situation can be a difficult time for you, and through care and understanding, she can build a relationship based on trust, ensuring she is someone that can be relied on to give appropriate and clear advice, whilst also able guide you through each step of the process.

She enjoys working with people to try and ensure that they get the appropriate compensation to secure their future. There is nothing more rewarding for her than knowing her work will help an injured person cope with the struggles they face on an everyday basis.

It seems like only yesterday that I wrote an article about the late Nicky Newman’s campaign aiming to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and how to check your breasts. Sadly, Nicky lost her own battle with cancer in late 2023.

A breast cancer case study

Posted on 20th October 2023 in Medical Negligence

Michelle Beckett reflects on the case of Mrs S, where sadly despite her reporting a breast lump and being seen by her GP on 3 occasions, the appropriate action was not taken until the 3rd appointment and it was argued that this negatively impacted on her long term treatment and prognosis.
