What our values mean to us

Our vision is to be considered the first-choice regional law firm for people and businesses in the South West, and national experts in our specialist sectors.

Underpinning this is a clear set of values, which form the basis for our culture as a firm:

1. High Quality Work

Raising the quality of the work and the experience our clients have with us.

2. Healthy Growth

Building relationships, looking for opportunities to work with other teams, pushing into new areas and stretching ourselves and each other.

3. Happy Teams

Rewarding and celebrating success, coming together as a firm, working in new and flexible ways, and making sure everyone feels valued.

Our values set out where we want to be, helping us grow together as colleagues for the benefit of each other, our clients and our communities. They are an important part of our approach to being a responsible business.

How we look after our people

Our success is built from within. We create strong, happy teams by investing in our people so they can develop their individual strengths.

We do this by providing:

Comprehensive employee benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits package which covers three main areas, finance and protection, health and wellbeing and leisure and lifestyle.

Finance and Protection

Logos-01We offer financial support for learning and development, we pay for professional subscriptions and memberships, have a travel loan scheme as well as offering a pension and life assurance plan. As signatories to the Living Wage Foundation, we are committed to paying the Foundation's recommended rates of pay. This, in addition to our enhanced maternity and paternity package, shows our commitment to the financial well-being of our people and our firm-wide annual bonus scheme helps everyone to share in our success. We recognise long service, acknowledge life events and encourage contributions via our Employee Engagement Committee, suggestion scheme and recruitment reward programme.

Health and Wellbeing

We cultivate an open and supportive culture, encouraging staff to look after their health and wellbeing and prioritise work/life balance. Our team of Mental Health First Aiders are available as a safe space for colleagues to talk to someone who will listen. Having completed training with MHFA England, they are able to provide emotional support and practical advice.

Mindful Employer

As a Mindful Employer, we’re committed to promoting better mental health and creating a welcoming and positive workplace. We have access to learning and development that helps those with team leader responsibilities to become Mindful Managers.

A part of the Mindful Employer Plus programme we are also able to offer our colleagues access to support with stress, depression, marriage and relationship issues, legal concerns, coping with change, parenting issues, financial problems and much more.

We offer our colleagues and their families the opportunity to join Medicash, a health cash benefits package which provides cover for not only health expenditure, but also offers access to GP appointments, physio, skin care and mental health support.

We are signatories to the Wellbeing for Women because we recognise the importance of creating an environment where menopause can be talked about easily, and where we can have the right support in place for colleagues.

Our offices have free fruit available to everyone.

Leisure and Lifestyle

In addition to a generous holiday offering of 25 days per year plus bank holidays and extra days at Christmas, we also offer holiday trading and for those who have been with us a little longer, an extra day to celebrate a birthday.

We take a flexible approach to working, including hybrid options, recognising that everyone has commitments outside work too.

As part of our Positive Impact Programme we offer two days per year for any colleague to work with a charity of their choice.

Access to learning and development

We offer tangible career pathways supported by dedicated learning and development, including a core skills programme and a leadership and management programme. All of our colleagues have access to our Learning and Development Hub, which provides a range of training options suitable for all learning styles.

Our commitment to our people

Inclusion and diversity

A diverse workforce makes us stronger as a firm. We value the richness different backgrounds and perspectives bring to our culture, which boosts our ability to serve our clients. We actively celebrate diversity and ensure our colleagues can feel themselves at work by:

  • Living by our values of having happy teams, delivering high-quality work and achieving healthy growth
  • Making sure we invest in people, respecting the differing needs of the individuals we work with as colleagues and clients
  • Ensuring everyone at Tozers feels a sense of belonging and purpose
  • Aspiring to always deliver exceptional service to our clients, and learning from our mistakes when we get things wrong

We offer our colleagues the opportunity to take part in our annual collection of diversity data which helps us to monitor progress on our diversity and inclusion initiatives. You can view our 2023/24 diversity report here.
