National Love Your Pet Day

In early November 2023, Ricky Noble, from our Family Law team, was exploring Istanbul with a friend, when they unexpectedly crossed paths with a stray kitten in distress and poor health. With Ricky's departure from Turkey in less than 24 hours, he was faced with a difficult decision: to leave the kitten behind or to adopt him and give the kitten a loving home.

Ricky decided to adopt and arranged urgent medical care for the kitten to ensure that all necessary arrangements were made to bring the kitten to its new home in the South West. Now, as Ricky eagerly awaits the day when the kitten, Melek, is welcomed into his new home in March, we are reflecting on the power and joy of making a difference to the life of a vulnerable animal on National Love Your Pet Day.

But this isn’t the first time Ricky has helped an animal in need. In December 2020, Ricky adopted a dog, named Allegra. Allegra was part of a litter of four, who were tragically dumped on a roadside next to some dustbins in Greece. After a lot of communication with the charity (Paws with Love), Ricky was able to collect Allegra in February 2021. Allegra then flew in her own private jet to Farnborough airport with lots of other stray dogs that were also in need. She is now Ricky’s sidekick when he works from home!

In a world where although filled with animal lovers, it is still sadly common to see distressed and stray animals that need care and a loving home. Ricky’s spontaneous act of compassion stands as a shining example on this day, of the profound impact that simple acts of kindness can have on the lives of those in need.
